Founder
When John Lee launched Jolab in 2005, he was driven by a singular vision: to create something meaningful and lasting that could contribute uniquely to the world. After earning his PhD in Chemical Engineering abroad, he returned to Taiwan with a desire to apply his knowledge in a more personal way — founding a company that bridged science and beauty to bring care and confidence into people’s lives.
The journey began with facial masks, a product John believed held immense potential to deliver care and comfort, yet was often overlooked due to its single-use nature. So, he set out to redefine what a facial mask could be. Beginning with the Collagen Bio-cellulose Mask, Jolab has continued to advance biocellulose mask technology, raising the standard for performance, quality, and skincare experience.
Growing up surrounded by the vast ocean and sweeping mountain ranges of Taiwan instilled John with a deep appreciation of nature and the world. These values have shaped every facet of Jolab, from pursuing environmentally responsible research and development to fostering sustainable practices. This philosophy also reflects John’s lifelong belief that environmental responsibility and sustainable business growth are not mutually exclusive, but can successfully coexist.
Founder’s Statement
At Jolab, we don’t believe sustainability is something you begin only after becoming a large company.
We believe it begins the moment you decide to care.
No matter how small a brand may be, we should still have the courage to reflect on how we can become better — better for our customers, better for society, and better for the earth. Because true influence does not come from size. It comes from intention.
That same belief is what led us to build a skincare manufacturing space that feels less like a factory, and more like an art gallery — a place where aesthetics and science coexist. We wanted to restore dignity to manufacturing, so that the people creating these products every day could feel proud of where they work and what they create.
To us, skincare products are not simply products.
They are works of art made with responsibility.
And perhaps the most meaningful thing is this: if our way of thinking can inspire other founders, other industries, and other factories to rethink the environments they create and the impact they leave behind, then what began as one small brand may slowly influence something much larger than itself.
